Brooklyn emo band Good Looking Friends prefaced their new album with the 73-second single “Jaywalker,” and I recently said that 73 seconds is all it took to get me excited for this LP. That’s still true, but 73 seconds was definitely not enough to prepare me for how expansive this album would be. “Jaywalker” is a burst of combustible energy, and Wasted Now has a few other songs like it. It also has post-rocky climaxes, ornate indie-emo, somber bedroom folk, and uplifting harmonies. It was partially recorded in Philly with Hop Along/Algernon Cadwallader guitarist Joe Reinhart and partially recorded in Brooklyn with Lorenzo Wolff (Bartees Strange, Nervous Dater), and its humble, raw exterior captures a band who sound ready to explode. - Andrew Sacher for Brooklyn Vegan
