Short Films, the fourth EP from Charlotte emo-punk band Stress Fractures, is a fast, vibrant release born from songs that didn’t quite fit the flow of their upcoming debut LP. Clocking in at just over six minutes, the EP blends intricate, noodly guitar work with energetic drums and grounded basslines, delivering a punchy and emotional listen that leans heavily into the band's emo and punk roots. Influenced by acts like Into It. Over It. and Jimmy Eat World, the three tracks break away from standard verse-chorus structures and showcase a dynamic mix of skate punk energy and thoughtful guitar rock. Originally planned to debut alongside a Northeast tour later canceled due to COVID-19, Short Films captures Stress Fractures’ high-energy sound in a way that feels tailor-made for live shows, recorded quickly and passionately during quarantine.
